A Day in the Life of an IT Expert
This workshop is exclusively for students in year 9 to 12 who are interested in the rapidly-developing field of IT. If you are interested in technology and how things work, this is the workshop for you. Participants will be introduced to a variety of ICT platforms, and gain a hands-on understanding of what studying a course in ICT involves. Workshops include making a network cable, which students will be able to take home with them; the Internet of Things (IoT), an exciting emerging field of the ICT industry that takes device connection to the next level; and designing your own 3D cube with software used in game design companies.
A presentation is included that will give participants an excellent insight into courses at Box Hill Institute and employment opportunities in the ICT Industry.
These are free workshops; however, booking is essential.
Students will have the opportunity to choose from two of the following three workshops.
- ICT - Networking: Make your own network cable to take home.
- Digital 3D Design: Design your own 3D cube with software used by games design companies.
- The Internet of Things: Build communicating intelligent devices.
After lunch, participants will attend a presentation on the ICT courses we have available and pathways to other courses. The presentation will also include discussion on what jobs are available in the ICT Industry and student life at Box Hill Institute.
