Chris Arnost ‘Stay Focussed’ and ‘Encouragement’ Scholarships
The Chris Arnost Trust in partnership with Box Hill Institute has established three annual Chris Arnost Memorial Scholarships to pay tribute to Chris Arnost and honour his enthusiastic approach to life. Chris was an electrical apprentice at Box Hill Institute, who unexpectedly passed away in April 2010.
A popular student with a loving family and many close friends, Chris kept a hand written note on his mirror that simply reminded him to ‘Stay Focused’, which epitomises the way that Chris lived his life. This scholarship was established to encourage recipients to stay focused on their studies and remind them of the reasons why they chose to be an Electrician. The intent of the scholarship is to encourage a balance of the important things in a student’s life by assisting with some of the financial costs associated with studying.
These scholarships are for students who are:
- undertaking the first or second year of Certificate III in Electrotechnology
- able to demonstrate a need, passion and commitment to their studies and to all course requirements
- experiencing financial hardship or facing personal challenges
- an Australian citizen or hold permanent resident status in Australia
Two Scholarships (for a 1st year and 2nd year student) of $1,250 to be presented in two instalments – at the end of Semester One and the end of Semester Two.
One Scholarship (Pre-apprentice) of $500 to be presented in two instalments – at the end of Semester One and the end of Semester Two.
Applications are open now and close: 10 March 2017
