Located 14 kilometres east of Melbourne City, the Elgar campus can be found on Elgar Rd in Box Hill.

Located 14 kilometres east of Melbourne City, the Nelson campus is the second location in Box Hill situated on Whitehorse Road.

Located 15 kilometres east of Melbourne City, the Whitehorse campus can be found on Whitehorse Road in Box Hill.

Our CBD campus is co-located with the Centre for Adult Education in the heart of Melbourne&rsquo;s Central Business District.

Our Lakeside Lilydale campus serves the local community as an active learning centre with a range of vocational and higher education courses. The campus is also home to the Yarra Ranges Tech School.

Over Covid, Jennifer took the time to think about what she loved and realised that being out in the garden made her happiest.&nbsp;
&ldquo;The reason I&rsquo;m doing this course is that I want to learn more about growing vegetables. I got sick and tired of going to the grocery store and not finding lettuce on the shelf&hellip;I was taken aback because we&rsquo;re in a country where you can always grow something,&rdquo; says Jennifer.&nbsp;

And so she signed up for the Certificate III on Horticulture AHC30722, which is a Free TAFE course.&nbsp;
According to Jennifer, Box Hill Institute has given her tangible resources and tools to help her cultivate a better crop. &ldquo;For example, I&rsquo;ve learned to tell beneficial bugs from bad bugs&mdash;instead of running out to buy weedkiller, I&rsquo;m learning about alternatives, which means I can grow healthier vegetables.&rdquo;
She also loves the quality of teaching. &ldquo;My lecturer is really passionate about everything, which makes me passionate too. She knows I&rsquo;m looking into hydroponics, and even through it&rsquo;s not part of the certificate course, she goes above and beyond to answer my questions.&rdquo;
Apart from that, Jennifer thinks that the setting in which she&rsquo;s learning is perfect for the course. &ldquo;Lilydale Lakeside Campus is beautiful. There&rsquo;s the lake right there. You get to plant something and watch it grow from start to finish, (unlike some places where) there&rsquo;s a garden and you just maintain it.&rdquo; &nbsp;
On top of that, she&rsquo;s found a community of peers through the course. &ldquo;The students are fantastic and really lovely. We all pitch in to help each other out!&rdquo;

The Certificate III in Horticulture AHC30722 at Box Hill Institute is taught at Lilydale campus, on the fringes of the lush Yarra Ranges National Park. Previous students have completed placements with notable organisations like the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, Melbourne Water and the Yarra Ranges Council.
