About the course

This skill set is designed to build the capacity of vocational trainers and assessors to address the foundation skills development needs of learners within their vocational practice.

It specifically focuses on enhancing language, literacy and numeracy skills and empowers participants to address adult LLN needs, access appropriate LLN support resources and identify the foundation skills requirements that are critical to vocational competence.

Prerequisites


There are no educational prerequisites for entry into this skill set.

For access and completion of the program, you must:

  • have pre-intermediate to intermediate digital literacy skills
  • be scheduled/able to teach and assess to a genuine group of learners for a minimum of 5 hours throughout the course period

Materials Required for class


For participation in this skillset, you will need:

  • access to a stable internet connection with data capacity of at least 30GB for the duration of the program
  • access to a laptop/ipad/PC or other personal learning device that has video viewing enabled as a feature
  • access to word processing software and ability to download other digital resource development apps and programs as required
  • access to the Box Hill Institute Student Web (web-based) platform

Target Audience


This course has been designed with the modern day educator in mind. It covers legal requirements of assessing core skill gaps in learners as well as how to design and implement easy to use learning and assessment strategies and modern digital resources to help close them.  This course is suited to:

  • teachers
  • trainers and assessors
  • RTO, TAFE and Higher Education managers, coordinators and compliance officers
  • education support workers
  • welfare workers in an education role
  • administrators involved in the documentation of pre training review gaps and strategies in VET
  • language, literacy and numeracy teachers
  • teachers of students with disabilities
  • VCAL and VCE teachers
  • disability support workers

While there are no educational prerequsites for entry into this skill set, pathway options out of the program vary, depending on which Training and Assessment (TAE) programs you had studied prior to TAESS00009.
