Embrace life and choice by developing the skills you need to be active in the community, have a job or study. In our work education course, you’ll learn through experience that includes creative and vocational activities and work placement.

This education course is ideal if you want to improve your employment skills in a comfortable and nurturing learning environment so that you can explore work options and education pathways that meet your goals. You’ll be encouraged in a fun way to build your independence and resilience. Your needs will be considered and teaching will be tailored to encourage your success. This course will cover:

workplace health and safety
exposure to different industries
the job seeking process
setting work-related goals
developing a personal vocational plan
self-development for workplace participation
use of technology to gather information about work-related goals

Entry Requirements

Learners must have evidence of a permanent cognitive impairment or intellectual disability.

This course is run by Box Hill Institute for a variety of disability service providers. If you wish to apply, your disability service provider will refer you to the Box Hill Institute Course Coordinator.

PRE-TRAINING REVIEW - to assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment. A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.

Pathways & Accreditation

After you've completed the course you may wish to progress into a variety of Certificate I or II courses or into supported or open employment.

This course is government accredited and has national recognition

The qualification is aligned with the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level 1

This training is provided with funds made available by the Commonwealth and Victorian Governments.

Tuition and materials fees are subject to partnership Training Service Agreements with individual Disability Service Providers. Tuition fees will vary depending on which units are selected. Concession rates apply. Industry-based groups are exempt from service and amenties fees.
