Barbering

Full time: 30 weeks (this is a blended delivery course which will include a combination of online, remote and face to face delivery).

This course includes practical face to face classes on the tools, in our professional Barber shop. Classes are held Monday and Tuesday 9am-4pm. This allows you to work in industry on the remaining days of the week, whilst completing online theory work. 

This is a blended delivery course which will include a combination of online, remote and face to face delivery. Blended learning can involve a range of online programs and resources including StudentWeb, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, Skype, specific industry platforms, pre-recorded sessions, assigned reading, tutorials, discussion boards, and online activities. Blended learning also involves face-to-face attendance at classes or practical placements.

After successful completion, you may wish to apply for a range of employment opportunities including working as a:

• barber in a barbershop
• men's stylist/barber in a hairdressing salon

You must:

• be at least 17 years of age (or be a mature-age applicant)
• have successfully completed Year 10 or equivalent
• have a basic level of literacy and numeracy

PRE-TRAINING REVIEW

To assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.

A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.

Direct entry

Successful completion will enable you to apply for entry into our Certificate III in Hairdressing or Diploma of Salon Management.

This course is government accredited and has national recognition

This training is provided to eligible individuals with funds made available by the Commonwealth and Victorian Governments

In order to successfully complete this course you will be required to purchase a specific set of professional industry products and equipment. Upon enrolment you will receive a 'welcome letter' outlining detailed instructions on how and where to order your student kits (at student prices and through recommended suppliers).  

Kits will be required from the first day of the course.

Retain Course Items are purchased once by the student prior to commencing. Those items then become the property of the student. Fees listed are at 2021 rates and may increase annually over the duration of delivery. The student tuition fees listed are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment.
