Our dental assisting course provides you with the knowledge and skills to work as a dental assistant.
With this nationally recognised health qualification you can competently assist a dentist, dental therapist or dental hygienist during oral health care procedures. You will learn all aspects of chairside assisting including:
Trainees/workplace-based students: Our workplace assessors will work with you online and in the workplace to ensure your training and learning needs are met to a competent standard.

Online: any time throughout the year
Full time: 12 months (delivered via online delivery)
You must complete 300 hrs of workplace hours during the course of your enrolment.
This fully online course is supported by a dedicated full time teacher who is available to support your learning via student web our learning management system and Microsoft Teams an interactive collaborative system whereby you can communicate with the teacher live and or via video conference.
In addition to this the teacher will visit you in the workplace at agreed times. Practical assessment will occur during these visits.
Students have the option of completing the core unit HLTAID003 Provide First Aid with an independent organisation or opt to attend campus to complete through BHI.

To assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.
A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.
Successful completion enables you to apply for Certificate IV in Dental Assisting.
