Are you looking to start or enhance your career in pharmacy support in a hospital setting? Then our hospital and health services course is for you.

If you are currently employed as a hospital pharmacy technician you can commence Certificate lll in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support as an off-campus student, via online learning. During this course, you’ll develop your knowledge and skills in:

  • dispensing of prescriptions
  • managing pharmaceutical stock
  • infection control
  • anatomy and medical terminology

Part time: 18 months (online)

This course is delivered online.  Online learning can involve a range of programs and resources including StudentWeb, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, Skype, specific industry platforms, pre-recorded sessions, assigned reading, tutorials, discussion boards, and online activities. Online delivery means that you can enrol in this course when you wish, and complete at your own pace.

Entry Requirements


You must be employed as a pharmacy technician in a hospital to commence.

PRE-TRAINING REVIEW

To assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.

A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.

Successful completion enables you to apply for entry into the Certificate IV in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support.

Course Structure


Completion of 14 units of competency, including 10 core and 4 electives units.

This fully online course is supported by a dedicated full time teacher who is available to support your learning via student web our learning management system and Microsoft Teams an interactive collaborative system whereby you can communicate with the teacher live and or via video conference.
