During our makeup course you'll learn how to design and apply makeup and style hair for special occasions, apply airbrush makeup, photography and emedial camouflage makeup across the beauty, fashion, media and entertainment industries. You will gain valuable knowledge on how to work with photoshoots with a professional Photographer both in the studio and on location, to build your portfolio, you will learn the art of marketing your small business and how to promote it on social media.
As a makeup artist you’ll typically work as part of a team or as a freelance artist in settings such as make up studios, on location, retail cosmetic counters, fashion, media sets and photography studios.

This course is delivered online. Online learning can involve a range of programs and resources including StudentWeb, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, Skype, specific industry platforms, pre-recorded sessions, assigned reading, tutorials, discussion boards, and online activities. Online delivery means that you can enrol in this course when you wish, and complete at your own pace.
After successful completion of our make up course you can apply for positions at photography & make up studios, salons and retail cosmetic counters, or chose to work as a freelancer and be your own boss.

To assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.
A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.
Successful completion of our make up course will enable you to apply for our Diploma of Screen and Media (Specialising in Make up Services) course or the Diploma of Beauty Therapy. You may be eligible for credit from previous study.
