Do you want to be self employed? Do you have a business idea? This nationally accredited course is customised and available for people who want to start their own business and be part of Box Hill Institute's NEIS program. Acceptance into the course is based on your application to apply for the NEIS program. The course will give you confidence to start your own business by providing you with knowledge and information to prepare a comprehensive business plan. A solid business plan is the most important step for your business.
On completion of the course and a satisfactory business plan, you will be considered for a NEIS contract. If your business is deemed to be viable, you will be put onto a NEIS contract which provides you with business advice and support for up to 12 months. You may also be eligible to receive a fortnightly allowance from the Commonwealth Government in addition to your business profits for that same period.

The NEIS training in the Melbourne metropolitan region will be mainly based at the Box Hill Institute City Campus at 253 Flinders Lane as well as the Elgar Campus in Box Hill.
The NEIS training in regional Victoria for the Goulburn-Murray region, is delivered through a flexible, blended learning model that is responsive to regional needs.
PLEASE NOTE: In response to Covid19 and the ever changing regulations, onsite training is currently not available. The course is now provided through live interactive sessions and every course is available for all regions to participate in.

A new live interactive course commences each month although specific start dates within the month may vary dependent on any unexpected situations. Once you have been approved for entry into the NEIS program, you will be provided with all specific details for the next available course commencement or future commencements if not suitable, including the program outline with dates, times and trainers information provided.
Training is for 8 weeks and students are given an additional 2 weeks to complete all required assessment tasks.

This is a blended delivery course which will include a combination of online, remote and face to face delivery. Blended learning can involve a range of online programs and resources including StudentWeb, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, Skype, specific industry platforms, pre-recorded sessions, assigned reading, tutorials, discussion boards, and online activities. Blended learning also involves face-to-face attendance at classes or practical placements.
After successful completion, this course will allow you to be self-employed in your chosen field or business activity.

PRE-TRAINING REVIEW
To assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.
A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.
Direct entry based on NEIS eligibility - you'll need to watch a NEIS information session and complete an application form. This form will be assessed and you will be notified directly of the outcome.
Recognition of Prior Learning is available.
You may wish to add further skills to your knowledge after this course, by applying for entry into any number of our other courses (or university degree)
