Get a firm footing in the office’s engine room by taking our practical accounting and bookkeeping course where you'll gain the skills neccessary to work in the field of accounting.

Studying budgets, costing, assets and inventory, you’ll develop a broad knowledge of the accounting profession, learning how to assist businesses and finance teams in driving better financial performance.

These skills will enable you to work within a business environment and complete office tax documentation.

Entry Requirements

You must have successfully completed Year 12 or equivalent or be mature aged, or have substantial work experience in the Accounting/Bookkeeping related occupational field. Some manual or software accounting knowledge is an advantage.


To assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.

A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.


VTAC and direct entry

Recognition of Prior Learning is available.

Pathways & Accreditation

After successful completion, you'll have many further study options, including guaranteed entry into a FS50215 Diploma of Accounting. After completion of the Diploma of Accounting, you may wish to apply for entry into the Bachelor of Commerce (Applied) at Box Hill Institute.

This course is government accredited and has national recognition

The qualification is aligned with the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level 4
