Program your career in digital media with our digital media technologies course. Delivered alongside the Certificate IV in Digital and Interactive Games, you’ll build your digital skills for a career in online marketing, animation, digital imaging, websites and games development.

In this digital media technologies course you’ll select your electives from a diverse range of units, allowing you to build specialist skills in the emerging information technology field.

Entry Requirements

You should have:

  • successfully completed Year 12 or equivalent, or
  • successfully completed Year 11 and attend an interview, or
  • be a mature-age applicant or
  • be a current VCAL student (you may complete selected units in conjunction with your VCAL studies)


To assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.

A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.

Successful completion enables you to apply for:

  • a dual Certificate IV qualification in games
  • the Certificate IV in Digital Media Technologies
  • a diploma in games or programming 
  • a degree in media arts and games development and design

This course is government accredited and has national recognition

The qualification is aligned with the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level 4
