This course will build on the knowledge and skills you already have in hairdressing to take your career to the next level. As well as building on your cutting and design skills, this course will push you to become a leader in the salon, along with providing instruction to others, and will also see you conducting assessments of hairdressing by others around you.
The opportunities this course will provide you are endless. With new found skills you may choose to work for an editorial magazine, creating a collection for a photo shoot, or marketing your own salon.

This is a blended delivery course which will include a combination of online, remote and face to face delivery. Blended learning can involve a range of online programs and resources including StudentWeb, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, Skype, specific industry platforms, pre-recorded sessions, assigned reading, tutorials, discussion boards, and online activities. Blended learning also involves face-to-face attendance at classes or practical placements.
Career Outcomes
The advanced skills this course will give you, will set you up to work at a higher level in the industry. You could see yourself working for an editorial magazine or marketing and promoting your own salon.
Entry Requirements
You must hold:
- Certificate III in Hairdressing, Certificate III in Barbering or equivalent
- be currently working as a qualified hairstylist or barber for a minimum of 12 months
PRE-TRAINING REVIEW
To assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.
A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.
