Develop your flair in decoration in the domestic and commercial environment of interior design in our interior decoration course where you'll be equipped with the technical and practical skills to transform your creativity into a winning solution for your client’s aesthetic and functional lifestyle goals.

Learn to:

  • work with professionals such as interior designers, retailers, builders, real estate agents and architects
  • work on real projects where you'll undertake research, plan, design and source furniture, study finishes and furnishings and lighting schemes
  • develop your drawing and illustration skills, CAD drafting, technology, and presentation skills and develop industry contacts and relationships from our highly qualified and experienced design teachers
  • work on client projects, learn from industry mentors and develop an impressive project portfolio that you can present to potential employers and your own clients

Plus, benefit from the opportunity to work and collaborate with the other design programs to widen your knowledge in styling for photography, print, web and social media.

Entry Requirements

You must have:


To assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.

A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.


VTAC and direct entry

Year 12 VTAC Applicants must:

  • complete a VTAC application 
  • book an interview
  • present a folio

Direct Entry Applicants (Non Year 12) must:

Recognition of Prior Learning is available.

Pathways & Accreditation

After successful completion you can apply for the MSF50218 Diploma of Interior Design 

This course is government accredited and has national recognition

The qualification is aligned with the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level 4
