This course will help you discover your passion for photography and photo imaging. During the course you will develop a wide range of technical skills in photography and photo imaging, including lighting, image capture, process, enhancement, manipulation and output.

As a professional you will work in a variety of settings including media, retail, commercial, portrait, wedding and art photography.

You’ll gain skills in how to use a digital camera, apply technical, theoretical and historical knowledge of photography and develop creative concepts and solutions in response to a client brief.

You will also cover topics including:

  • industry knowledge
  • history 
  • creative thinking 

You can take this course as part of a dual qualification with the Certificate IV in Design.

To assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs the Institute and CAE will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.

A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.

After successful completion, you can apply for entry into the Diploma of Photography and Photo Imaging. If you study this course as part of a dual qualification with Diploma of Graphic Design you may apply for entry into the Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design with an aim to pathway to further study in a university degree program.
