About the course

If you are curious about mental health, family violence, or disability and want to learn more, or already work with people with a psycho-social disability, this accredited short course may be for you.

Psychosocial Disability is when a person has been identified as having long-term, ongoing impacts resulting from a mental health issue.  They may then be eligible for NDIS support.  Regardless of who you work with, or know in your life or community, this short course will give you skills and insight into current approaches to mental health and holistic supports.

Some of the skills you will learn include:

  • working with sensitivity and empathy
  • responding to crisis situations
  • supporting the safety of people by identifying and reporting abuse or family violence
  • understanding the NDIS and working in an NDIS service setting
  • practising self-care and managing stress
  • understanding how psycho-social disability differs from most other forms of disability
  • understanding the support needs of people with psycho-social disability
  • understanding recovery oriented practice

Completion of this skill set will give you credit towards further training that includes these five units. You may be interested in further related training in community services.

This accredited course is nationally recognised.
