About the course

Our beauty therapy course (specialising in spa and wellness) will prepare you for work in a 5-star resort, day spa or beauty salon.

You’ll gain current beauty treatment knowledge and be guided to find your own beauty speciality. While learning how to practice the ancient healing methods of hydrotherapy, aromatherapy and massage, you'll advance your skills in performing traditional beauty therapy treatments such as massage, specilaised facial and body treatments and microdermabrasion incorporating a holistic approach, using a range of professional products and environmentally sustainable practices.

As part of our beauty therapy course, with guidance from our industry professional trainers, you'll improve your confidence gaining practical experience in our day spa environment.

Entry Requirements


You must:

  • be at least 17 years of age
  • have completed Year 11 or equivalent
  • have sufficent literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to sucessfuly complete this course

PRE-TRAINING REVIEW

To assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.

A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.

Pathways & Accreditation


Successful completion of our beauty therapy course will enable you to gain industry experience after which you may apply for further studies in courses including the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Dermal Therapies) or the Diploma of Salon Management (SHB50216)

This course is government accredited and has national recognition

The qualification is aligned with the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level 5
