Our sports programs at Box Hill Institute are delivered as a package of qualifications.  At completion, you will receive three diplomas including:

  • Diploma of Sport (Sport Development)
  • Diploma of Sport and Recreation Management
  • Diploma of Sport (Coaching)

The sports industry is constantly evolving. Completing these qualifications will allow you to experience the best of both worlds and develop a diverse range of skills that will create excellent pathways to further education and industry. Students will have the opportunity to experience all parts of the industry to help drive their career objectives. If you want to be part of this industry, this is a practical hands on course that will help you achieve your goals.

It is an exciting and fast paced environment with so many different opportunities for graduates. box hill has a track record of preparing students for the next stage, we have a range of industry partners that allow students to gain hands on learning required to succeed. Developing a strong network within the industry is really important. Our sports programs have been running over a decade and our Alumni network is really strong. It's great to be able to have our ambassadors return and provide their insights to mentor and support students on their journey.

At Box Hill Institute the sports programs will provide you with an opportunity to complete a broad range of units and study areas. this includes; coaching, sports leadership, sports integrity, event and project management, sports governance and sports psychology. Each of the subject areas are applicable to the different roles where you may gain employment and also provide the fundamental learning and opportunity to pathway to further study. Many of our graduates acknowledge that the Diploma is a great transition to University and that it prepares them for what is expected at Bachelor level.

Please note that these courses are delivered as a package of qualifications.  The typical fees changed for all three qualifications are as follows:

  • Diploma of Sport (Sport Development) / Diploma of Sport (Coaching) will typically cost $6,651 (Government Subsidised Tuition Fee)
  • Diploma of Sport and Recreation Management will typically cost $12,735 (Government Subsidised Tuition Fee)

TOTAL COURSE ESTIMATE: $21,103 (including Tuition Fee, Service & Amenity Fee & Material Fee)

Career Outcomes


This qualification will prepare you to work in a wide range of roles in the sport, recreation and fitness industry. You may find work in sports management, sports administration, sports coaching, officiating or event management. Following further study, you may enter a career in sport/exercise science, health and nutrition, or teaching physical education.

Entry Requirements


You must have completed Australian Year 12 (or international equivalent).

Mature age applicants are welcome to apply. 

PRE-TRAINING REVIEW

To assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.

A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.

Successful completion will enable you to apply for degree courses in a number of areas including sports science, sports management and human movement.
