Develop the essential skills, knowledge and professional requirements you need to advance your career in our vocational education and training course. In our training course, you’ll learn from highly-experienced and well-qualified trainers who model exceptional training skills, giving you the opportunity to practise these skills in a supportive class environment as well as engage in workplace projects.

This training course is ideal if you’re planning to be a senior or lead trainer and assessor or to become a vocational education designer. This new program is designed for experienced trainers in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector who possess the TAE40110 ( transcript must list units-TAEASS502 & TAELLN411) or TAE40116 qualification and have extensive experience as a VET sector trainer and assessor.

You’ll be offered a variety of learning and teaching approaches including workplace-based projects, workshops, presentations, and group discussions and syndicate work that link formal learning with vocational practice. You’ll have access to online resources through the student web portal. Practitioners may have a role in leading other trainers and assessors, mentoring and providing guidance and advice to trainers and assessors and/or promoting innovative practices such as e-learning.

To be eligible to complete this course you will need access to a training workplace that will allow you to provide evidence of a minimum of 100 hours of training and a minimum of 20 VET learners to assess 50 units of competency.

Entry Requirements

This new program is for you if you’re an experienced trainer in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. You must already hold the TAE40110 (with units TAEASS502 & TAELLN411) or the TAE40116 qualification, have extensive experience as a VET sector trainer and assessor, and want to take the next step in your professional career. To be eligible to commence this training, you should be currently employed as a trainer/assessor with a Registered Training Organisation.

You will be required to provide a certified copy of your TAE40110 or TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification and transcripts.

In addition, you will need to have access to a computer (with Adobe Reader, Microsoft applications and Chrome web browser installed), plus the internet.  In order to fulfil the requirements of the course, you must be digitally literate (that is, be able to use Microsoft Word and Powerpoint - document creation, uploading, downloading, saving, cutting and pasting, creating and manipulating tables/templates, etc.). 


To assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment.

A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.
