About the course

This short course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. It applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

Specific regulatory requirements relating to this course including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state work health and safety regulatory authorities.

Course Content


There are two different delivery options for this short course: 

  • blended - completion of pre-course study and assessment plus 6 hours practical training and assessment
  • face to face - completion of 2 full days (14 hours) theory/practical training and assessment

Following the successful completion of this short course, you will be able to:

  • respond to an emergency situation
  • apply appropriate first aid procedures
  • communicate details of the incident
  • evaluate the incident and own performance

Upon successful completion of all assessments, you will receive a statement of attainment for HLTAID003 Provide first aid.

All learning materials are provided including a copy of Emergency First Aid learner guide
