Graduate Diploma of International Music Business
Our Graduate Diploma in International Music Business gives graduates a clear pathway to exercising leadership in the international music business.
Gain an advanced knowledge of the music business, build strategic creative entrepreneurial skills, and engage with contemporary issues in relation to the creation, production, distribution and consumption of music and music related products.
You‘ll be fully equipped to manage complex music business issues during a period of rapid change in the economic, musical, cultural, social, legal and technological aspects of the industry. This course focuses specifically on music business and is run by experts with many years of music industry experience.
Take control in a professional leadership role that encompasses creative, entrepreneurial and managerial functions in small to large music business organisation in a global context, informed by a comprehensive understanding of national and international best practice.
This course is designed to cater specifically for existing music industry employees like you, who want to study full or part time, while maintaining your current industry based career, or a recent graduate of a music business/music industry course to further your study in the field.
To give you the flexibility you need in a busy career in the music business, our subjects are offered online and can be completed at your own pace, without having to attend timetabled classes on a weekly basis.
In addition to the online lessons, there are at least two residential sessions held each year, held mostly over weekends. Successful completion of this course gives you automatic entry into Box Hill Institute’s Masters of International Music Business.

You must have successfully completed either:
- an Australian undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline.
- an Australian post-graduate degree (or equivalent) in an unrelated discipline
- have at least two years’ music industry experience

Successful completion will enable you to enrol in our Masters of International Music Business. You may also be eligible to apply for further postgraduate study at other institutions, including postgraduate study in teaching and education.

This course is accredited by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) and the qualification is aligned with the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level 8 and Box Hill Institute Graduate Attributes.

These range from venue and live performance management, to recording, and radio, television and Internet publishing and sales, for which possible careers include Music and Entertainment Manager, Music Project Manager, Artist and Major Event Manager, Major Record Company Senior Administrator, Independent Record Company Manager, Music Publishing, or Music Organisation Manager. Graduates may also find employment in other business-related industries with promising career forecasts, such as advertising, marketing, multimedia specialisation and web development.
The Graduate Diploma of International Music Business can serve as the first 8 subjects of the 15 subject Masters of International Music Business.
