Study Level Short Course

Our teachers are all industry professional Hip Hop artists and managers.  

In 2017, Nielsen Music released a report which showed Hip Hop/R&B had replaced Rock as the dominant music genre in the United States. According to the report, Hip Hop/R&B are now responsible for 25% of all music consumption in the United States, while rock claims 23%.

This course is ideal for people of all ages who wish to experience the processes involved in producing Hip Hop music. The course is also a great way to experience Box Hill Institute’s Recording Production studios and equipment first-hand.

The course will cover:

  • Hip Hop Industry overview
  • Understanding Hip Hop associated recording software
  • Producing beats – Multitracking, Mic technique and positioning, editing and mixing
  • Writing a rap – Lyric writing
  • Basic marketing skills – Social media

You are encouraged to bring along any product that you have made or project you are currently working on, or, you can start making new music from scratch. The choice is yours!

The Hip Hop Intensive course targets the growing Urban music section of the music industry and is ideal for people who want to transition into Hip Hop from another genre, or people studying music for the first time.

Students will make and produce a beat, write a rap and get the insight on how to market their product to gain maximum exposure.
