In this 5 week short course, you will be introduced to the fabrics & trims used in swimwear & lingerie. You will learn basic patternmaking principles required for stretch fabrics as well as be introduced to many of the specialty machinery required to make swimwear & lingerie.

You will be provided with a pattern block and will be shown some basic patternmaking techniques on how to alter the block for design requirements. At the end of the course you will apply construction techniques to complete an intimate apparel brief.

  • Week 1 Garment Analysis and construction techniques, review of knit fabrication and trims
  • Week 2 Construct technical samples, Basic pattern making principles, introduction to pattern blocks
  • Week 3 Complete a simple pattern and specification sheet to create your own swimwear or lingerie pattern (standard size 10)
  • Week 4 & 5 Construct and complete your chosen design

Some basic sewing experience is preferred.

Anyone interested in fashion, fashion illustration or fashion design.

Student will learn patternmaking and construction techniques for intimate apparel and swimwear and create an individual garment.
