Staff will be available to assist with fitting your gown.
Once you are gowned, you will be able to join your guests in the foyer prior to seating. If you choose to leave the Besen Centre once you are gowned, you must return before 7:00pm.
Receiving Your Certificate
When it is time for you to receive your certificate, an usher will direct you to the stage in order of presentation.
When the MC announces your name:
- Walk onto the stage via the steps on the left of stage
- Receive your certificate
- Shake hands with or acknowledge the Box Hill Institute Board Member
- Leave the stage via the steps on the right of stage and return to your seat until the end of the ceremony.
If you are eligible to receive more than one award, you will be presented with your highest award on stage.
Conclusion of the Ceremony
At the conclusion of the ceremony, graduates will stand as the academic procession leaves the stage. As the academic procession leaves, graduands will stand and follow, joining the procession as it leaves the auditorium.
Following the ceremony, graduates and guests will be able to celebrate with Box Hill Institute staff over supper.
Please return your regalia to the Gowning room by 10:00pm.
Regalia will be provided to all graduands free of charge. Your regalia will be available for collection between 4.30pm and 7.00pm at the Besen Centre on the day of your graduation. Depending on your award, you will receive the following:
|Diploma||Gown & Stole|
|Associate Degree||Gown & Stole|
|Bachelor Degree||Gown, Hood & Mortar Board|
Please return your regalia to the collection point at the end of the night.
As all gowns are open at the front and hang to around mid-calf, your clothes will be clearly visible. We advise you wear smart casual clothing underneath your gown and sensible shoes to negotiate the stairs on and off the stage.
Seating will be allocated to you when you collect your regalia. Seating will be arranged according to your award and is not to be swapped. Your guests may sit anywhere in the general seating area.
