Certificate III in Automotive (Mechanical – Light Vehicle) (2004)
Being the only female apprentice at Porsche in Melbourne, and one of the only females studying automotive at Box Hill Institute, was never a problem for Amber Sarda. She grew up in a house full of boys, her mother’s family raced Austin Healys and MGs and her stepfather is a Harley Davidson mechanic.
By the age of 16, she’d already helped rebuild a VH commodore engine with her best friend. And her time at Box Hill Institute fitted her like a racing glove: “I just love Box Hill TAFE.” Box Hill loved Amber too, sending her to the Victorian Training Awards, where she was named Victorian Apprentice of the Year.
Amber has moved quickly up the ranks since her graduation and has her eyes on a management position sooner rather than later.
