Certificate of Technology (Electronics)

Box Hill Institute electronics and computer technology graduate Brett Hemphill now owns and operates the online booking service NetBookings, the main online booking system for tourism on the Mornington Peninsula.

It started in 1997 when Brett devised an online booking system for a friend’s scuba diving charter, and to this day his friend still uses the original system and books 90% of his business online. After a career that included work with a range of small and large organisations, including Telecom and CSIRO, Brett now runs his own thriving business. And he gives credit where it’s due: “Box Hill Institute gave me good and relevant industry experience. The teachers were very passionate about the things we were learning and I was too.” NetBookings now has the largest number of Day Spa businesses selling Gift Vouchers online and also provides online booking technology to the Day Spa Industry in Australia.

Meanwhile Brett has kept his scuba diving connection alive, diving for undiscovered ship wrecks in Bass Strait and posting diving films on youtube.
