Musician

As a child Jaimi Faulkner was brought up on a diet rich in blues, country and folk music. While other kids were out playing with their mates, Jaimi was learning to play the slide guitar and listening to tapes of Muddy Waters.

With his passion for music firmly entrenched, Jaimi began writing songs that encompassed his interest in pop music and the blues influences of his childhood.

At age 21, Jaimi released his first album ‘Last Light’ which successfully debuted at number 5 on the Australian Rhythms Magazine Chart. With his music career taking off, Jaimi toured both locally and internationally playing more than 200 shows a year. His performances at the American Juke Joint Festival in Clarksdale Mississippi where he played with the legendary Big Jack Johnson, cemented his position as an emerging talent.

Winning the prestigious Australian Blues, Roots Performer of the Year (band category) in 2008 gave Jaimi the opportunity to represent Australia in the International Blues Challenge held in Memphis, Tennessee.

His performances alongside some of the world’s top blues, roots performers enabled Jaimi the opportunity to support artists such as Chris Isaak and Jeff Martin (The Tea Party) on their Australian tours.

Jaimi’s album, ‘Kiss and Ride’ was released in 2009 and features distinct influences of his time spent in Memphis and Stax Records where he was fortunate enough to meet legendary soul singer, Reverend Al Green.

In 2010, Jaimi was awarded song of the year at the prestigious Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society awards for his single ‘Highway Life.’

While experiencing success at home, Jaimi was still relatively unknown in Europe but this changed in 2011 when he toured Germany and the Netherlands as a solo performer supporting artists such as Vonda Shepard, Paul Young, Chris Thompson, John Allen and Waylon.
