How will JobTrainer help me?

This initiative can be of great assistance to those wanting to improve their employment prospects and secure work in a growing sector without having to worry about the education costs involved.

What evidence do I need to provide to enrol in a JobTrainer course?

In addition to the normal course entry requirements, you also need to confirm you are either aged 17 to 24 or a job seeker to enrol them under the JobTrainer initiative.

Evidence of age: If you are 17-24 years old, proof of your age is required (i.e. birth certificate, passport, driver’s licence, learner permit, Proof of Age card, Keypass card).

Evidence of job seeker: If you are over 24 and a job seeker we must sight and retain evidence of your job seeker status. We accept the following:

  • a current and valid Commonwealth Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card or Veteran’s Gold Card
  • a separation certificate from your employer
  • a letter from your employer or company receiver stating that you have been made, or will be made, redundant or retrenched.

If these documents are not available, then the job seeker can use the Evidence of Eligibility and Student Declaration Form to make a signed declaration that they are unemployed.

What is the difference between a JobTrainer qualification, and a JobTrainer skills set?

A ‘qualification’ means a course that has ‘Certificate’ or ‘Diploma’ in the title (for example, ‘Certificate III in Business’, ‘Diploma of Nursing’).

A ‘skill set’ means a course with the title ‘Course in…’ or a single subject, or small group of subjects (for example ‘Course in Family Violence’, ‘Infection control Skill Set (Retail)’).

How much do JobTrainer courses cost?

Depending on which course you enrol in, it may be free through the Free TAFE initiative, or it will be at a reduced cost. This means you can study a short or long course for free – or at a heavily subsidised rate.

How do I apply for the JobTrainer scheme?

You need only to apply for the course. Assessment of funding eligibility will take place as part of your application assessment to make sure that funding is applied to your course enrolment according to your eligibility. All course offers include an individual statement of fees based on funding eligibility prior to payment and finalisation of your enrolment.

When do JobTrainer courses start?

Box Hill Institute has been allocated JobTrainer places in a range of courses. These are offered to eligible students for courses beginning in 2021.

Please note: As you are limited to one JobTrainer commencement in a qualification in your lifetime, we will only use your JobTrainer entitlement for a place for you, if is needed to get you the lowest possible fee, If you would already have been entitled to that low fee without JobTrainer, we won’t utilise your JobTrainer place for this course commencement, as JobTrainer places are limited.
