Located 15 kilometres east of Melbourne City, the Whitehorse campus can be found on Whitehorse Road in Box Hill.

Our CBD campus, which houses the Centre for Adult Education, is situated in the heart of Melbourne&rsquo;s Central Business District.

Our Lakeside Lilydale campus serves the local community as an active learning centre with a range of vocational and higher education courses. The campus is also home to the Yarra Ranges Tech School.

Box Hill Institute are a leading Victorian provider of TAFE courses, vocational training and international degrees in Melbourne CBD, Box Hill and Lilydale.

Magnify is a high-level music intensive for students wanting to fast track their careers and boost their skills. Meet other high school musicians (aged 14-18) and take part in this unique music camp where you will develop the real-world skills you&rsquo;ll need in your music career.&nbsp;
Across daily tutorials, workshops and collaborative sessions students will develop skills in song writing and composition, improvisation and arranging. Students will record a real studio session in Sing Sing East and take part in workshops in social media and online marketing to promote their music. At the end of the week, you will take home a professional recording of your own music, and perform it live at The Venue.
The faculty includes some of Australia&rsquo;s most innovative indie artists. Past tutors include Harry Angus (trumpet/voice - Cat Empire), Olympia (vocals/guitar), Cheryl Durongpisitkul (saxophone), Fran Swinn (guitar), Kathleen Halloran (guitar), Claire Cross (bass), James Gilligan (bass), Gian Slater (vocals), Gideon Preiss (piano), James Bowers (piano, Daniel Farrugia (drums) and Kieran Rafferty (drums).

The next camp runs from Monday July 14th to Friday July 18th, 2025, 9.30am - 4pm and includes a concert on Friday night (6pm - 7pm).
Entry is by audition and numbers will be capped at 30 students. Apply now using the application form below.

Applications
Applications for the Winter Camp 2025 are currently open for all instruments: vocals, woodwind, brass, strings, piano/keyboards, guitar, bass, drums
To apply, fill out an Expression of Interest (EOI) form, with links to videos of two contrasting pieces (we recommend youtube for easiest links). (These videos act as audition pieces and, also help us place you in the right ensemble.)
We process applications in two rounds. We suggest applying for the first round if you are keen as the camp will fill up. Once instrument places are full, we no longer accept applications for those instruments.
If you have any specific requests (like people you&rsquo;d like to be in a band with, or styles of music you hope to make) there is space in the form for that stuff too.

Round 2: Friday June 13th, 5pm
Audio Students
If you&rsquo;re interested in learning how to record music in a professional studio, you can also apply to Magnify Music Camp! You&rsquo;ll get 1 day training with Matt Voigt (Cat Power, The Living End, Powderfinger, The Killers, The Dirty Three) plus two days assisting on recording sessions in our amazing studios.

No, this is a day-camp. The hours are 9.30am-4pm Monday-Thursday and 9.30-7pm on Friday. We cannot provide accommodation for our students.

Yes! If it is reasonable to do so, please bring your instrument. If you are a guitarist or bass player, bring your instrument and also bring a lead. Drummers, please bring your cymbals, drum key and hihat clutch. We encourage vocalists to bring their own microphones, although you can use ours if you don&rsquo;t have one.
We have full backline for all rehearsals and performances (guitar amps, bass amps, pianos, keyboards and drum kits).
If you don&rsquo;t want to transport your instrument back and forth every day, we can safely lock it up on campus throughout the week.

The concert is not a ticketed event &ndash; all family and friends are welcome. Doors open at 5.30 with a 6pm concert start time. It usually finishes around 7pm.
