Box Hill Institute is the only Australian provider to offer a Bachelor of Biosecurity Science and we are providing on-the-ground biosecurity workers for this important industry.
A number of our students have been snapped up either just before or after they graduate, by government departments in need of risk assessment officers.
Biosecurity is how we prevent, respond to, and recover from pests and diseases that threaten Australia's economy and environment. With globalisation and climate change becoming increasingly challenging, protecting Australia's biosecurity is a high priority.
Our recently employed students include:
Alumna Rosa Cleve says of her new employment as a Plant Standards Officer, "My role was never advertised. They were impressed by my knowledge of biosecurity, which the course gave me, and believed I was a good candidate.
"I believe the course gave me a great foundation, which enabled me to understand a large amount that could be built on with work experience. I also believe that the course gave me a foundation to work across invasive, animal and plant biosecurity aspects," she said.
The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has invited our graduates to register on their jobsite to ensure they get picked up for an interview.
With our talented alumni heading straight into industry, the future of Australia's biosecurity is in safe hands!
