Hairdressing employers and industry members attended Box Hill Institute’s relaunch at its new hairdressing faculty on Tuesday, 13 March during which we were proud to announce our new industry partnership with Schwarzkopf.
As part of this partnership, Schwarzkopf will locate their industry training rooms within the hairdressing faculty at Box Hill Institute.
Spearheading the relaunch was multi-award winner, Jane Trewin, Box Hill Institute’s new Executive Director of Education Delivery.
Jane unveiled a fresh model of workplace assessment, new teaching formats including augmented reality, a contemporary barbershop training facility, and a modern skin clinic with three expert doctors teaching the latest cosmeceutical treatments like neurotoxins, IPL and laser treatments.
In addition, Jane announced that current teachers will be provided more opportunities to refresh their training and skills. New teachers will also be brought on board such as accomplished hairdresser and award winner, Olivia Zynevych.
Jane said, “I intend to make our hairdressing faculty the best in Australia.
“The purpose of these initiatives is to attract more people into the industry and I intend to have industry involvement in every aspect of our curriculum. Student exposure to leading companies and industry practitioners will influence their level of professionalism and create pathways into careers,” she said.
Guests attending the relaunch included Sharon Blain, one of the most acclaimed hairdressers and educators in the world today. Sharon is a strong supporter of Box Hill Institute and recently lead a collaborative photo shoot for teachers and students at the Institute along with other trailblazers including:
- Sarah Laidlaw, who headed make up
- Courtney Humphries as the shoot stylist
- Melbourne Fashion Week 2017’s Emerging Student Designer, Tess Whitfort; and
- her fashion photographer, Milos Mlynarik.
