Box Hill Institute (BHI) is one of the largest providers of Year 12 education outside of secondary schools in Victoria, with over 200 enrolments for 2024. Around 75 percent of BHI’s VCE students are over 18 years old, primarily mature-age learners returning to school to progress their education and careers.
This year, BHI has experienced an almost 20% increase in students achieving an ATAR of over 80%. Additionally, almost 4% of students attained an ATAR of 90% or higher, with the top student achieving an impressive score of 98.5%.
With data from the Productivity Commission revealing nearly one in five students leave school without completing Year 12, these results signify the importance of alternative education pathways outside of traditional high schools.
Director of Box Hill Institute’s Foundation Education College, Matt Hetherington, expressed pride in the students’ achievements, especially considering the challenging circumstances some faced in the lead-up to exams.
“The results are very encouraging. Despite facing personal difficulties throughout the year, some students achieved scores in the top 20% of the ATAR range,” said Mr. Hetherington.
