High Praise from Industry for Building Design Alumni

2018-08-13

Box Hill Institute’s Advanced Diploma of Building Design alumnus, Soroush Maghsoudi was recognised with two awards at this year’s Building Designers Association of Victoria (BDAV) annual awards night. Soroush was awarded Best Digital Presentation by a student and Drafting Excellence by a student.

The annual BDAV awards acknowledge and encourage excellence in building design and profile the building design profession to the wider community. This year’s awards featured over 30 categories including multi-residential dwellings, interior design, education, commercial and public buildings.

Soroush’s winning project comprised of technical working drawings and an animation for an eight storey Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) building. He was commended for his expert use of architectural software and the construction details of this new building method.

BDAV praised Soroush for his very high standard of work in the digital presentation, which was informative and well set out, and congratulated him for his extensive drawing set, which demonstrated a high level of understanding in preparing a well-detailed working set of documents for a complex building form.

Founded in 1983, the BDAV is the peak not-for-profit industry body presenting more than 1,700 building design professionals. This year was the 23rd year of its awards, and judges continue to be impressed with the standard of entries, reflecting the high level of quality design being offered by design professionals to consumers.

The winners of the 2018 BDAV Building Design Awards were announced at the BDAV’s Annual Dinner on Saturday, 4 August 2018 at the National Gallery of Victoria.
