Melbourne Regional World Skills Award

Refrigeration heating up

Refrigeration may be used for cooling, but it’s the hot topic of the week at Box Hill Institute.

Congratulations go out to Box Hill Institute student Declan Hamilton, who won the Melbourne Regional World Skills Competition in Refrigeration over the weekend.

Declan’s achievement comes hot on the heels of an announcement by the Victorian Minister for Training and Skills, the Hon Steven Herbert, that Melbourne will host the 2016 WorldSkills Australia National Competition from 11-13 August.

Held every two years, the competition is expected to see over 500 competitors from around the country compete in automotive services, building and construction, client services, computing and business, hospitality services and metals and engineering competitions.

We’re thrilled that Declan will be representing Victoria at these finals.

In other news, Box Hill Institute’s Refrigeration and Climate Control Centre of Excellence (RCCC) was one of three finalists in the 2015 Victorian Training Awards, having been nominated for the Industry Collaboration Award.
