New Apprentice Training 2021

2020-11-23

Are you a local trade employer in the Yarra Ranges considering training apprentices in early 2021?

Now is the perfect time to put your thoughts into action as Australian businesses who take on a new apprentice or trainee are eligible for a 50 per cent wage subsidy thanks to the Federal Government's Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements program.

In addition, a new $10.2 million Integrated Centre for Sustainable Construction Technologies or Trade Training Centre is being built at Box Hill Institute’s Lilydale Lakeside campus as part of the Victorian Government’s Build Better TAFEs initiative, so your apprentice will receive the best, most modern training in the area.

Box Hill Institute ensures the apprentice or trainee is at the heart of what we do. We partner with industry to ensure appropriate skills and knowledge requirements are met for each qualification, incorporating new technologies and ensuring your apprentice is job ready at all stages of their training.

Working in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and sustainable skills, the Trades Training Centre is an impressive facility with a modern industrial factory and warehouse fitted out to meet educational needs including workshops, classrooms, staff workplaces, material storage, and amenities.

Box Hill Institute's Dean of Trades, Technology & Transport, Craig Brittle said, "To have this on the doorstep of the Yarra Valley proves that State Government wants to support communities in the Lilydale area and it will provide opportunities of training from secondary school upwards."

Lilydale Campus Director, Paul Newnham said, “The exciting opportunity and ability to provide state-of-the-art facilities that supports career pathways to the students, community and local industry on our Lilydale Lakeside campus in the Yarra Valley is simply brilliant.”

We look forward to welcoming your new apprentice or trainee on to campus in 2021.
