Dedicated to chasing his dream career, Marco is determined to pursue a life in hospitality management. He said, “Cooking is my passion and I love people. In 10 years’ time, I see myself working in the hotel and hospitality industry as an event or hotel manager.”
Taking inspiration from Australian celebrity patissier and Chef Adriano Zumbo, whilst studying the Certificate IV in Patisserie, Marco’s favourite class was the marzipan, chocolate and sugar classes. He said, “I idolise the creativity Zumbo puts into the design of his food and desserts, which is why I love getting creative with the new techniques I learn during class.”
Through hard work and determination, during his studies of the Diploma of Hospitality Management (Specialising in Patisserie), Marco has mastered the process of baking the macaron, a delicate dessert that he loves to bake and enjoys eating.
“My favourite teacher whilst studying the Certificate IV in Patisserie was Praveen Kaushal. He taught me how to make dessert figures in class. I was very blessed to have a kind and a passionate teacher who took care of all his students,” Marco said.
For future students, Marco said, “Studying at Box Hill Institute is an excellent experience. The people in my class are really great and the small teaching class sizes are beneficial for learning. The lecturers and teachers are very supportive to all my peers and give us one on one learning so that we can improve and correct our techniques.”
Marco is very thankful to have a supportive family who believes in his passion. He said, “My family is my biggest inspiration. They are always supporting me with anything I do and they care about me a lot.”
Marco is now pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree of Hospitality Management at Box Hill Institute. Outside of his studies, Marco is a Box Hill Institute Student Ambassador and works as a café and venue attendant at Bulleen Templestowe Basketball Club.
