Day Spa & Beauty Salon

Come and visit our Day Spa and Beauty Salons located at Building 5 Elgar rd, Box Hill to experience a range of beauty treatments in our state of the art facilities.

Our students perform treatments on clients throughout their course.

You can book in for a range of services in our day spa including spa treatments, hydrotherapy tub, vichy shower, hot stone massage, aromatherapy and lymphatic massage, body wraps and body scrubs. You can also join us in our beauty salon for microdermabrasion, specialised facials, waxing, tinting, manicures, pedicures, spray tanning, electrolysis and diathermy. All treatments are supervised by our industry professional trainers.

What do you learn in the Diploma of Beauty Therapy?

The Diploma of Beauty Therapy is a very hands on practical course. We have two streams available with each stream consisting of standard beauty treatments before branching out into their own speciality units.

The standard beauty treatments consist of make-up, manicures and pedicures, waxing, massage, facial and body treatments, aromtherapy treatments and hot stone massage.  

The spa stream focuses on holistic relaxation treatments, incorporating the use of hydrotherapy, vischy showers, lymphatic massage, reflexology and Indian head massage.

The Permanent Hair (PHR) stream focus on electrolysis, diathermy and business units. 

What qualifications do I need to be a Beauty Therapist

Whilst the industry is not currently regulated, it's best practice in the industry and for employers if applicants hold a Diploma of Beauty Therapy. This ensures that staff can perform a range of treatments within the salon.

If working within a a beauty retail environment, a Certificate III in Beauty Services is suitable. 

How long does a Diploma of Beauty Therapy take?

The Diploma of Beauty Therapy takes 12 months full time and 18 months part time.

How can the Certificate III in Make-Up be completed online?

This is a very practical course, which features a range of practical videos, procedures and live demonstrations by your trainer that you can practice in your own time. You will submit your practice attempts for the trainer to review and they will provide you with feedback.

How do I get my kits for the Certificate III in Make-Up?

When you enrol into this course, you will receive links to purchase the kits from a supplier at industry prices. This means that you can space out the kits you require throughout your course. The kits are directly delivered to the address that you nominate.

What will I learn as part of my Certificate III in Make-Up?

Industry consultation was undertaken to ensure that our graduates have all the skills required to gain employment or work as a freelance artist. During industry consultation, we were advised that clients prefer makeup artists who can do hair and makeup, so as part of this course you will learn:

  • Special occasion makeup
  • Bridal makeup
  • Makeup for photography and how to work on a photo shoot
  • Airbrush makeup
  • Fashion and catwalk makeup
  • Long hair up dos
  • Braiding
  • Social Media
  • How to market yourself as a freelancer
  • Hygienic work practices

Do I need any workplace experience as part of the Certificate III in Make-Up?

You are required to complete 36 hours of industry collaboration to complete the course. This can be completed with another freelance makeup artist, in a retail store, on a set or photoshoot where makeup is applied.

How do I complete my theory work for the Certificate III in Make-Up?

All the theory work is set up on a platform called StudentWeb, which also has online resources. When you commence the course, you are provided with a login that you use for the duration of your course.

What if I need to contact my trainer and I need support in the Certificate III in Make-Up?

As part of your course you are allocated a weekly one on one with your Trainer. You can also contact the trainer during allocated times when you require assistance. Each section online has a forum where you can post questions and the trainer can respond.

Do I need a laptop or computer for the Certificate III in Make-Up?

Yes, you do need to have access to a computer or laptop to complete this course.

How do I connect with my peers?

As part of the course, we set up an online community that gives you access to post in our forums and communicate with others. Microsoft Teams allows you to see and chat with your peers online.

Do I have set dates for my work in the Certificate III in Make-Up?

When you commence the course you have a course plan that reflects either 4 months, 6 months or 12 months. This provides you with dates that work should be submitted if you want to complete the course in that timeframe.

Is there a fast track option for the Certificate III in Make-Up?

Yes, there is a fast track option. As this course is self-paced you can complete the course anytime during the 12 month course duration.

Are there set times of study for the Certificate III in Make-Up?

This course provides the flexibility for you to study when you choose to. That means you can study evenings, weekends or during the day. There is a live webinar that you can attend at a scheduled time each week. This webinar session is recorded so you can watch it anytime.

How many attempts do I get for my theory work in the Certificate III in Make-Up?

For each assessment submission, you get three attempts. Our trainers can help with anything you need.

What sort of online resources are available in the Certificate III in Make-Up?

As part of this course, you will have access to a range of online resources. These include access to online textbooks, videos and pre-recorded webinars.
