From a very young age, Brandon had an affinity for and was incredibly inquisitive about computers. Brandon always wanted to understand why and how they operate and what all the different components do. Helping others with their computer problems soon followed and it always gave him a buzz when he helped someone out and saw the smile on their face.
Brandon knew of Box Hill Institute through various careers expos and career talks that he attended with his high school. Years later, some of his friends were finishing their courses at Box Hill Institute and were talking about the industry experience they acquired and how that was a real boom for their future employability. "Hearing my friends talk about Box Hill Institute with such high regard got me thinking about studying IT and towards the end of 2016, I applied,” he says. "I got to study some subjects that I hadn’t even considered being interested in and it really showed me the scope of learning that I had signed myself up for. It was a bit daunting getting back into a studying mode after so many years out of high school, but the support was there from my teachers and fellow classmates to get me through.”
Brandon currently works as an IT Support Technician and notes that the IT industry is a male-dominated sector. He said, “it would be fantastic if there was a real push to encourage more woman to enter the IT industry.”
