Fashion students have access to pattern making and sewing rooms with specialist machines, including CAD programs. CAD enables digital patterns to be produced and sent overseas.

Students have access to newly our newly built Visual Merchandising studio, with space that allows for development of creative displays. 

Interior Design students have access to a fully functioning workspace to create functional spaces for emerging designers. 

Emerging Designer Program is the perfect place for likeminded creatives to network and collaborate with alumni, and fashion, design and photography students. Access is available to our studios, sewing workrooms and dedicated Mac labs, including the full Adobe Creative Suite.

Third year Box Hill Institute Bachelor of Fashion student, Chelsea Subala has taken out the 2019 Melbourne Fashion Week Student Design award.

The second Box Hill Institute student to win the award in three years, Chelsea said her collection - SLAY - was inspired by people who had mental illness and were suffering anxiety or depression, and it was influenced by Melbourne's street art graffiti.

Chelsea's garments use a combination of emulsion screen-printing as well as embroidery. She has always been interested in illustration and fashion textiles and believes she can use her talent to make an impact on society, however large or small.

"The garments that an individual wears is a reflection of themselves, whether they are conscious of it or not. I want to push the boundaries of my consumer outside their comfort zone. It's about the silent language that is spoken without words."

Box Hill Institute Bachelor of Fashion alumna has taken the global fashion industry by storm.

Winner of the 2017 Student Designer Award at Melbourne Fashion Week and of the world's largest sustainable fashion design competition, the international Redress Design Award in 2018, Tess launched her own label during Melbourne Fashion Week in September 2019 – Pendulum Studios.

Pendulum Studio garments adhere to Tess' zero-waste design philosophy and she is keen to promote sustainable design theories and techniques to influence the global fashion industry.

"I feel it's a real expression of my own individual style and embodies the idea that being a total badass and a good person aren't mutually exclusive."
