Policies and procedures

Policies and procedures

Our policies and procedures outline student rights and responsibilities. They include Box Hill Institute’s responsibilities to students, who are affected by these policies and procedures from student selection to student assessment.

How do policies and procedures affect students?

Policies and procedures not only outline the rights and responsibilities of students but also Box Hill Institute’s responsibilities to students. Policies and procedures affecting students range from student selection to student assessment.

Student Right of Complaint

Box Hill Institute recognises student feedback as an integral part of the process for continuous development. If a student is looking to submit a complaint or feedback, they can do so by:

Find out more by heading to the Student Feedback page on StudentWeb.

If a student would like to escalate a problem or complaint outside the institution, you can contact the Victorian Ombudsman to seek further assistance.

The Ombudsman investigates complaints made against staff who work for government departments, statutory authorities and local councils. The Ombudsman has a team of experienced enquiry and investigation officers who handle enquiries and complaints received by the office.

There is a Student Grievance Policy, which can be followed as a first point of call.

Child Safety

BHI Group is committed to child safety. We have specific policies, procedures and training in place that supports all employees to achieve the following commitments.

  • Preventing child abuse, identifying risks early, and removing and reducing these risks. We have zero tolerance of child abuse, and all allegations and safety concerns will be treated very seriously and consistently with our robust policies and procedures.
  • Complying with our legal and moral obligations to contact authorities when we are worried about a child’s safety.
  • The cultural safety of Aboriginal children, the cultural safety of children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, and to providing a safe environment for children with a disability.
  • The safety, participation and empowerment of all students, including children.
  • Regularly training and educating our employees, contractors and volunteers on child abuse risks
