Located 14 kilometres east of Melbourne City, the Elgar campus can be found on Elgar Rd in Box Hill.

Located 14 kilometres east of Melbourne City, the Nelson campus is the second location in Box Hill situated on Whitehorse Road.

Located 15 kilometres east of Melbourne City, the Whitehorse campus can be found on Whitehorse Road in Box Hill.

Our CBD campus is co-located with the Centre for Adult Education in the heart of Melbourne&rsquo;s Central Business District.

Our Lakeside Lilydale campus serves the local community as an active learning centre with a range of vocational and higher education courses. The campus is also home to the Yarra Ranges Tech School.

This unit specifies the outcomes required to carry out work health and safety (WHS) requirements through safe work practices in all on- or off-site construction workplaces.
It requires the performance of work in a safe manner through awareness of risks and work requirements, and the planning and performance of safe work practices with concern for personal safety and the safety of others.
The unit covers fundamental WHS requirements necessary to undertake work tasks within any sector in the construction industry. It includes the identification of hazardous materials, including asbestos, and compliance with legislated work safety practices. It does not cover removal of asbestos, which is a licensed activity.
It applies to workers in the construction industry.
This unit also relates directly to the general construction induction training requirements of the Model Work Health and Safety Regulations 2011 and relevant occupational health and safety regulations for Victoria and for Western Australia. Achievement of&nbsp;CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry&nbsp;covers these induction training requirements.
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

The Box Hill Campus &ndash; Elgar has been part of the fibre of Box Hill for nearly 100 years. It consists of eight purpose made buildings, including an <a href="/facilities/automotive/">automotive workshop</a>, carpentry workshop, an integrated technical hub, a nursing ward and sophisticated computer labs. It also has customer facing businesses where students can work providing <a href="/about-us/services/">services</a> to the public. These include a <a href="/facilities/hair-beauty-salon/">hair and beauty salon</a>, <a href="/facilities/flowers-on-elgar/">a floristry,</a> <a href="/facilities/fountains-restaurant/">Fountains restaurant,</a> and a <a href="/facilities/pets-on-elgar/">veterinary clinic</a>.

Short-term parking (15 minutes) is available at Boomgate P1 on Elgar Road. Two-hour parking is available along Victoria Crescent, Kingsley Crescent and Whitehorse Road. There is also parking at 450 Elgar Road (corner of Whitehorse Road &ndash; left turn entry and exit only), which costs $2.50 per hour for up to 4 hours or a maximum of $9 per day (credit card only). Secure Parking also operates a carpark on the corner of Elgar and Whitehorse Road. Standard rates apply. Fountains Restaurant has a car park for patrons, which is accessed via Boomgate P7 on Victoria Crescent. When making a reservation, please ask for allocated car parking.

Security is on site 7am to midnight, Monday to Friday, and 7am to 5pm on Saturday.

<h2>Breastfeeding Mothers</h2>
If you are a breastfeeding mother or need to express milk during your time on campus, there is a room allocated at each location for this purpose. Contact Student Life on (03) 9286 9891 or drop by Building E3, on the ground floor, room 56) to register your name and student ID. They will supply a swipe pass to the room, although you will need to allow 24-48 hours for the pass to be activated. The breastfeeding room contains a small special purpose fridge for storing expressed milk. It is solely for expressed milk however security of any stored milk is the parents responsibility and any milk stored must be clearly labelled.

There is a prayer room at each campus. Students are welcome to use the room for prayer, mediation or quiet contemplation.
At the&nbsp;Elgar Campus, Building 4, Level 2, Room E4.261. The room is open.

All of our campuses are smoke-free. No one is permitted to smoke anywhere on campus &ndash; indoors or outdoors.

Breanna had spent her twenties working in the beauty therapy industry when she realised it wasn&rsquo;t the right career path for her. &ldquo;I have always wanted to do a trade but never had the guts to do it. I bit the bullet and did a plumbing pre-apprenticeship and loved it from day one.&rdquo;
Breanna&rsquo;s outstanding work was recognised when she was nominated for Apprentice of the Year at the Victorian Training Awards in August 2018. Box Hill Institute is very proud of Breanna&rsquo;s achievements and her goals. In the future, Breanna wants to run her own plumbing business while she continues to encourage more women to work in trades.

In ten years, Paul Yao has successfully changed careers, co-founded a building design company and almost completed his Master of Architecture at Deakin University. It all started with a Certificate IV in Building and Construction at Box Hill Institute and a burning desire to learn. Now, Paul’s company, BDHA, is about to open its first commercial office, and word of mouth is keeping the business growing.

Talina had previously learnt a lot about Certified Passive House principles and found herself keen to do the course in order to gain extra professional development and skills. This helped her to become more confident in her abilities to deliver high-performing buildings.Of her time at Box Hill Institute, Talina says the best parts about the course were &ldquo;The passionate and knowledgeable teacher, who was dedicated to doing his best to ensure success in our understanding of the course content,&rdquo; she also says &ldquo;The appreciation that the learning about Building Science and passing the exam would enable use to be leaders in our industry&rdquo;.Since finishing up at Box Hill Institute, Talina&rsquo;s practice has grown and has become recognised as leaders in the field, having won an award for their first completed certified Passive House project. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m aiming for all our new projects to be designed to the Passive House standard,&rdquo;
