About the course

About the course

Are you looking for a career in fitness, where you can help others improve their health and physical fitness? Where you can be your own boss, choose your own hours, and get paid to have fun on the job?  Then studying this fitness course is the perfect qualification to get you started!

Gain the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience you need to enter the industry as a gym instructor or group exercise instructor, and start working toward a career you are truly passionate about.  In this course you will learn how to conduct health and fitness assessments, better understand nutrition and provide healthy eating information, develop tailored fitness programs to achieve training goals, and instruct both individuals and groups through exercises and training sessions.

At Box Hill Institute, you will study theory in the classroom and practice your skills in the gym.  Our course is completed on campus in our gym facility and students will have access to the latest equipment and exercise sport science technology (used by elite professional sport teams such as teams in the AFL, NBA, NBL, A-League, NRL, and NFL).  Our students are taught by industry experts who have worked with professional sporting teams, have owned and managed successful fitness businesses, and had long successful careers as personal trainers both online and in gyms.

After successful completion, you will be eligible to apply for registration with key industry bodies including Physical Activity Australia and AUSactive and start working, even whilst you continue your studies in the Certificate IV in Fitness.

This qualification is the first step toward studying the Certificate IV in Fitness and becoming a Personal Trainer.
