Throughout the course, you will collaborate with peers and work individually on class activities and personal projects, all aimed at developing a portfolio of visual work. You will undertake investigative tasks to explore key elements of interior design, including materials and finishes, lighting, furniture and accessories. Gain insights into the design industry's impact on society and understand the importance of historical influences on contemporary design.

Practical entry level tasks will cover essential design concepts such as:

  • colour theory and ergonomics
  • manual drawing and Computer Aided Design (CAD)
  • preparation of mood boards to communicate ideas
  • use of measuring devices
  • Work Health and Safety (WHS) implications in interior decoration
