About the course

Whether you are new to the art world, or rediscovering your creative side, our visual arts course is for you. 

You will explore a variety of art techniques under the guidance of practising artists at our City campus in the heart of Melbourne's art precinct.

You’ll develop skills in drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture, using traditional and digital methods. You will also visit exhibitions, attend artist talks and participate in special workshops.

Entry Requirements


You must have successfully completed year 10

PRE-TRAINING REVIEW - to assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment. A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.

Pathways & Accreditation


After successful completion, you may apply to study the CUA41320 Certificate IV in Visual Arts

This course is government accredited and has national recognition

The qualification is aligned with the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level 3
