About the course

Our design course helps develop and enhance your skills in graphic art, graphic design, visual communication, design thinking, human-centred design, product design and related design studies.

In our practical hands-on course you’ll develop design concepts using the design process and learn how to select the right techniques and media to communicate your ideas. You’ll learn theory, practical skills and design practices to develop artistic and professional solutions.

During our course, you’ll develop an understanding of graphic design techniques, colour application, typography and digital image production. You’ll also learn about design history, drawing and illustration techniques, photo imaging and visual effects and the principles of design applied to 2D and 3D forms.

You must have:

PRE-TRAINING REVIEW - to assist prospective students to determine whether a course is suitable and appropriate for the individual needs, Box Hill Institute will assess all students’ language, literacy and numeracy and digital literacy by asking you to undertake a self-assessment review prior to the enrolment. A course advisor will discuss the outcomes of the review and make recommendations about whether the course is suitable for you, and identify additional support where required.
