About the course

About the course

Are you wanting to work in the building and construction industry?

If so, it is mandatory that you hold 'Prepare to Work Safely In The Construction Industry' (otherwise known as a White Card) before you can enter any construction site.

During this 1 day program, you will cover topics including:

  • identify health and safety legislative requirements of construction work
  • identify construction hazards and risk control measures
  • identify health and safety communication and reporting processes
  • identify incident and emergency response procedures

The course is typically delivered on campus on a Saturday each month.

You will be required to attend the face to face delivery for the day and complete several assessment tasks in the classroom and on campus. Correctly wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) is one required assessment task so if you have hard hat, safety glasses, vest and hearing protection please bring these to the session. If you do not own these, then PPE will be provided for you. Once all assessment tasks are satisfactorily completed you will be eligible to receive your white card.

After completing this short course, you will receive a 'Work Safe' white card which allows entry onto construction sites.
