How it works

What you need to know about online and blended learning

FAQs

If I apply now, can I still start a course at mid-year?

Yes, applications and enrolments will continue for all courses available at mid-year.

Until further notice, any commencing course will be delivered online through blended learning. Blended learning can involve a range of programs and resources available online.

When restrictions are lifted and students can attend campus, classes will be delivered in the classroom as per usual. Work-integrated learning opportunities including practical placements will be completed when it is safe to do so.

How will my classes be taught online?

Online learning can involve a range of programs and resources depending on the class being taught.

Box Hill Institute has a number of online learning technologies available including StudentWeb, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex, Skype and specific industry platforms.

Course work may also include the use of pre-recorded sessions, assigned reading, tutorials, discussion boards, and online activities.

Will there be any support for students learning online for the first time?

Our student support services have developed Remote Ready resources available in StudentWeb, which includes how-to guides and training on how to use a number of our core remote delivery tools.

How long will my course be taught online?

Box Hill Institute is closely monitoring the situation around coronavirus (COVID-19) and we are taking advice from the relevant authorities, including the Australian Government’s Department of Health, Department of Education, DFAT Smart Traveller and the World Health Organisation.

When restrictions are lifted and students can attend campus, classes will be delivered in the classroom as per usual, although social distancing practises may still need to be followed. Work-integrated learning opportunities including practical placements will be completed when it is safe to do so.

If I need to self-isolate during my course, will I be supported?

You will be supported. Your course coordinator will be available to discuss options for catching up on work or to make alternate arrangements. Student Life is also available to support students needing to self-isolate.
