Gain the essential skills and knowledge to work as an enrolled nurse in a variety of healthcare settings with our nursing course. In this rewarding career, enrolled nurses care for patients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
During this health course, you'll learn how to implement general nursing care, assess client's health and analyse health-related information. You’ll also learn how to administer and monitor medications and attend to the needs of a range of healthcare clients, including older clients, acute care clients and people with mental health conditions. The course will assist you to develop effective communication skills and understand how to work within legal and ethical parameters in nursing.
You will complete a minimum of 400 hours of mandatory clinical placement in a range of healthcare settings across metropolitan, regional and rural areas.
After successful completion, you can apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as an enrolled nurse. Please see NMBA website for information about registration requirements and how to apply.

Full time: 2 years (2.5 - 3 days per week)
This course is currently available in Box Hill campus only for International students.
Please note as a full time international student, you must attend 2 full days of compulsory orientation at the commencement of the course.
Practical skills training and assessment will be carried out in scheduled small classes. Practical Placement is a required component of this course and will be scheduled as soon as possible with an appropriate placement host. In the current environment this may take longer than normal and therefore, expected completion dates for the course may need to be extended to take account of deferred placement.

After successful completion, you may have the option of applying to universities and be granted up to 12 months credit towards most 3 year Bachelor of Nursing qualifications.
There are many pathways available after successful completion of this course. Box Hill Institute has specific articulation arrangements with ACU, Deakin and La Trobe Universities. All Box Hill Institute nursing graduates with HLT54121 will be required to meet ACU’s minimum admission requirements of a sound achievement in English and any other university entry criteria, and will receive agreed credit of 80 credit points on confirmation of application. ACU also guarantee the direct pathway for top 10 students towards the Bachelor of Nursing.
Bachelor of Midwifery entry is not guaranteed. However, successful candidates who have graduated from Box Hill Institute will receive credit points on confirmation of application.
Students who successfully complete this course will be eligible to apply for maximum 8 credit points into the Bachelor of Nursing at Deakin University, subject to meeting requirements for entry into their program.
