25 November 2020 Coronavirus – Message from the CEO

On behalf of the entire teaching team at Box Hill Institute and across our three campuses, I would like to thank all students for their resilience, patience and adaptability during this challenging year.

We had only just begun the year when we felt the impacts of coronavirus and everyone had to react quickly and decisively as restrictions were put into place.

The move to remote learning meant a quick learning curve for those who had never used MS Teams or Zoom or Google Meet. Some struggled with bandwidth and poor internet access but we battled through those obstacles.

Our international students had to make the very difficult decision about whether to return home to their families overseas or to stay and endure the uncertainty of life during a pandemic.

By supporting one another, adapting where we could, leveraging our resources, using innovation and remembering to keep you, the student, at the heart of everything we do, we have now arrived at what would traditionally be the end of the training year.

As restrictions have eased, we have been able to ask some students to return to campus to complete the practical components of their course, and this will continue to be the case going into summer as we work to make sure everyone successfully achieves their qualification.

While things are becoming COVID Normal, I ask those of you who are returning to campus to please adhere to the safety precautions and restrictions that remain in place, particularly the wearing of masks, which is mandatory on campus, and social distancing. Remember, if you are feeling unwell or have cold or flu symptoms, please do not attend campus.

For those of you finishing up your courses, I wish you all the success in your career and look forward to seeing you graduate at some time in the future. We look forward to welcoming you back one day as you continue your journey of lifelong learning.

For those of you returning next year, we look forward to seeing you back on campus.
