From 6pm on Sunday 2 August 2020, Stage 4 restrictions were applied to all people living in the Melbourne metropolitan area. This means study at TAFE must be done remotely, although limited program areas will be permitted on campus for the completion of mandatory assessments. Students will be contacted directly about these specific arrangements.

Students invited to campus are permitted to can travel more than 5 kilometres from their home for this purpose. Box Hill Institute will provide you a letter that can be used as proof of your requirement to be travelling to and from campus.

No courses will be delivered on campus in the evening due to the 8pm curfew for Melbourne.

Students who are invited to campus must complete a student declaration and undergo entry screening. Students with underlying health conditions or in high risk categories that make them vulnerable should not return to campus. This is in line with the advice provided by the Department of Health and Human Services - COVID 19 information.

The Concierge Team will welcome returning students and conduct temperature checks as part of entry onto the campus. This team consists of Box Hill Institute staff members who have received training to ensure that students’ health and safety is a top priority. They will also monitor social distancing.

Students are asked to arrive 15 mins before class to ensure they can be screened before their scheduled class begins. Once a student completes the screening, they will receive a sticker, which indicates their eligibility to be on campus for that day only.

NOTE: DO NOT ATTEND CAMPUS IF YOU ARE FEELING UNWELL OR HAVE COLD OR FLU SYMPTOMS

Infection Control

Students will only return to campus to attend mandatory assessments. Masks must be worn and social distancing must be adhered to at all times in and outside the classroom. Once class has finished, students are required to leave the campus. If a student is found to be in breach of the social distancing requirements, they may be asked to leave campus and return at an advised date.

Students will be trained in managing infection control practices in the classroom where there is shared equipment and surfaces. They will be required to observe these practices during class. This includes washing hands regularly as well as using hand sanitiser before entering the classrooms.

Condition of Entry/Declaration

Condition of entry to campus is subject to adhering to, and following measures to manage the risk of transmission. Students will:

  • Agree to daily screening procedures

Student Declaration

Students returning to campus will be required to complete a declaration agreeing to the conditions of entry as well as observing Box Hill Institute Code of Conduct for Students. This declaration is not compulsory, however students will not be able to return to campus during the pandemic unless they sign it. The duration of the declaration is until the control measures have been removed on the advice of Victoria’s Chief Health Officer.
